Tearing Up Carpet On Stairs

I ended up cutting it a little more and folding the carpet under and stapling it down at the edge of the wood that is at the top of the staircase.
Tearing up carpet on stairs. I have plans to install hardwoods in our upstairs hallway. Wear gloves to protect your hands from the staples that hold the carpet in place. 3 cut or tear off carpet and put in garbage bag. To remove carpet from stairs start at the top.
If not cut the carpet near the top of the top riser grab the cut end and pull the carpet off the stairs by hand. If there s a metal nosing at the top of the stairs pry it up to remove it. 2 pull carpet over to the left until reaching the spindles. I only want to have carpet in the bedrooms one day.
With a flat head screw driver up against the nail strip strike the end of the screw driver with a hammer until you can get under the nail strip and pull it up you may want to use gloves during this step. 4 tear up padding and put in garbage bag. Here are smart jr s pictures of me ripping off the second to last stair. 1 pry up the right corner.
My method was this. This works fine for now.
